Cognate with Scots _thocht_ (“thought”), Saterland Frisian _Toacht_ (“thought”), West Frisian oan_dacht_ (“attention, regard, thought”), Dutch _gedachte_ (“thought”), German An_dacht_ (“reverence, devotion, prayer”), Icelandic _þóttur_ (“thought”).
